About Cycling4Sisters
Cycling4Sisters is an enthusiastic group of cyclists who have set up a charitable organisation in an effort to help women and children in need. Under the guidance of founder Debbie Stopforth, the organization has extended its reach to Gauteng.
As their launch venture for 2017, the objective is to focus on empowering high school going girls in rural and disadvantaged areas in the Western Cape and Gauteng Regions.
These girls are missing on average a week of school every month due to their menstrual cycle and not having adequate sanitary protection. This amounts to up to 20% of their total school days over 5 years.
The Mission:
Their aim is to raise funds to buy reusable SUBZ Washable Sanitary Pants and Pads manufactured and distributed by SUBZ Pants and Pads (Registered and accredited NPO).
They plan to cycle into the rural areas and hand deliver these packs to the senior school going girls, as well as give educational and personal hygiene talks. We are targeting distribution to 1000 girls in 2017.
Each pack costs R175 and should last up to five years.
The packs consist of a bag, two pack panty set with six clipable pads and plastic bags for storage.
How to get involved
Being a charity organisation we look to our communities to help us support our cause and those in need. We hope to reach out and touch many sisters in need and help to improve their lives as best we can. We invite you to help us achieve our goals and assist us in getting these vulnerable girls back into school and helping restore their dignity.
We will appreciate and welcome any monetary donations as well as any personal hygiene products. We are an organised charity, Cycling4Sisters, who are supporting the registered NPO called SUBZ. SUBZ is BEE: Level Four (4) contributor; 100% B-BBEE procurement recognition. Organisations who make a donation to Cycling4Sisters will receive the tax certificate and BEE points.
